With the ability to speak five languages, Maria Chow brings a truly cross-cultural perspective to her focus on leadership development. She provides consulting services in English, Mandarin and Cantonese in addition to speaking French and conversational Japanese.
After spending the first 10 years of her career as a conciliation officer and counselor in the labor ministries of both Hong Kong and Singapore, she joined KPMG Peat Marwick (Singapore) as a senior HR consultant, assisting clients in operations review, employment contracts, outplacement exercises and training. Maria also served for six years as the director of training and development for Michelin Asia Pacific, where she participated in the post-merger integration of personnel in China and Thailand.
Prior to setting up her own training and consultancy business, Ms. Chow worked as the director of custom solutions for the Center for Creative Leadership’s regional office in Singapore, where she specialized in the design and delivery of leadership development initiatives for multinational companies.
Maria’s career achievements include creation of the Asia-Pacific talent management function for a leading tire manufacturer and managing the custom program business of a major U.S. leadership development institute.
Maria earned a B. Soc. Sc. (Honors) from the University of Hong Kong in management studies and an MBA from Singapore’s Nanyang Technological University, where she majored in strategic management and service marketing. Her MBA dissertation “Determining the Future Challenges in Industrial Relations Management in Singapore: A Delphi Approach” was published in the autumn 1998 issue of Asia Pacific Business Review.
